Warts

Warts are benign skin growths caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) and are common in children. They can appear on the hands, feet (plantar warts), or other parts of the body. Warts are usually harmless but can be bothersome, especially if they are painful or multiply. Treatment options for warts include over-the-counter remedies, cryotherapy (freezing), Cantharidin “beetle juice” application, Candida antigen injection, or other dermatological procedures to remove them. At SKN Dermatology we provide a variety of options to help make the treatment of warts as painless as possible. Preventing the spread of warts involves avoiding direct contact with warts and maintaining good personal hygiene.
